Become a Tree Steward

The TreesUnion Tree Stewards program trains volunteers to care for and promote the health of local urban and rural forests. To learn more about the program join one of our Free Interest Sessions.

 

Free Tree Stewards Interest Sessions are open to the General Public. This free education event will provide information on tree care fundamentals, presented as an outline of the Tree Stewards curriculum. This does not replace the Tree Stewards training, which is more in-depth. We will answer questions about TreesUnion and the Tree Stewards training. 

• Monday March 16, 5:30 -7 p.m. Union West Library (Indian Trail)

• Wednesday March 18, 5:30 -7 p.m. Southwest Library (Waxhaw)

• Thursday March 19, 5:30 -7 p.m. Main Library (Monroe)

volunteers with the knowledge to plant, maintain, and advocate for trees across Union County. Tree Stewards will be expected to follow standards of conduct and contribute 8 volunteer hours each year at tree planting or maintenance events, and/or public education events. Tree Steward training is provided by Union County's Urban Forester, Keith O'Herrin, Ph.D.  ​
