Become a Tree Steward

The program is closed for this year. If you are interested in joining the program next year please let us know here.

The TreesUnion Tree Stewards program trains volunteers to care for and promote the health of local urban and rural forests. Registration will be capped at 15 people. Upon completing all seven (7) classes, participants will become a TreesUnion Tree Steward. This initiative will equip volunteers with the knowledge to plant, maintain, and advocate for trees across Union County. Tree Stewards will be expected to follow standards of conduct and contribute 8 volunteer hours each year at tree planting or maintenance events, and/or public education events. Tree Steward training is provided by Union County's Urban Forester, Keith O'Herrin, Ph.D.

The cost for this training is $70 and please only register if you can attend all seven classes. The class schedule is list below, four classes are virtual, three classes are in person in Monroe and the last class listed (the eighth class) is optional.
